Role Level Security Released

We have just released a major new version of ProjectManager.com which allows you to manage projects faster, more securely and more efficiently.

Firstly, we've added Role Level Security. This enables you to assign your users a "role" which limits their access to the system. The 3 types of roles are "Administrator", "Project Manager" and "Team Member". An Administrator has complete access to all of the projects within your account. The Project Manager has full access to only those projects you assign to them. They can also create new projects of their own. And the Team Member has the ability to enter project data, but not change your project plans. In this way, you can limit who see's what and how they interact with the system.

Also in this major release are Timesheets, and Expense forms. You can now enter timesheets and when you do so, the data entered will automatically be used to populate your Project Plan and Project Dashboard.

Your expenses entered will be used on the Project Dashboard, and in your Project Reports. And thanks to this new release, you can also access a wider variety of Project Management Dashboard charts and reports.

December 2008 Release

Role and project level security.
Users can be assigned roles which provide and restrict access to certain features. A user can also now be limited in which projects they can have access to.

Timesheets
Users now have an easy way of entering actual time spent on tasks within a project. Users can select groups of tasks and enter time spent on each task. That information is automatically reflected in the 'Actual Effort' on the task as shown in the Gantt task details and on reports where 'actuals' data is shown.

Expenses
The new expenses feature allows to record and track expenses over the life of the project. Recurring expenses and one-off expenses can be set up. Expenses affect the cost data as displayed on the dashboard.

Resource Allocation Report
The new resource allocation report displays all the resources in a project (or project group) over a given date range, and displays their capacity and allocation on a weekly or monthly basis. This makes it easy see over/under allocation of resources, making planning simpler and more effective.

Health widget (Project level)
The health widget for a project has been enhanced. The handy, 'at-a-glance' traffic light system which highlights potential problems has been enhanced. Each traffic light now provides additional details, like have far ahead/behind schedule the project is, and the number of tasks you are completing on time.

Portfolio Status Report : Health Chart
The Portfolio Status report has been enhanced with an optional chart which is similar to the health widget on the dashboard. It provides the same 'at-a-glance' traffic light system to quickly ascertain the health of you projects.

Administration: Settings
Account details and setting are now available on a new menu option. This option is only available for users in the Administrator role. This option is where you can view and maintain account details used to contact you. In future releases this will also contain account specific settings that you can use to customise and configure the account.

Documents: Deleting a folder
A folder containing sub-folders and/or files can now be deleted without having to first remove the contents first. A warning will pop-up prompting the user that the folder and all it's contents will be permanently deleted.

Project Manager .com Goes Live

A refreshingly new approach to project management was released today at Project Manager .com

The offering provides project managers and teams with a new way of managing projects. The concept is that no longer does a project manager have to spend lots of their time generating reports and working with spreadsheets to gain a current view of their project. They can now use online project management software to do it in minutes. By entering their time spent on tasks, their expenses, change and risks, the Project Manager can see on their project dashboard a real time view of their project status.

"The software tells you if the project is on time or running late" says Jason Westland, CEO and Founder. "It also tells you whether you're under budget, your level of risks and if there are any important issues that need sorting out. The graphical dashboard gives you an up-to-date view of the status for the entire project. In fact, you can manage hundreds of projects all at the same time, and you can even see a summarized view of the status of your entire project portfolio."

"It's smart, it's sexy and it's already the best in the market place."

Project Management Software to be released

Project Manager Online Ltd has announced that it is on track to delivering an exciting new software offering in the 3rd quarter of this year.

The software offering is reputed to contain a Gantt control that helps you plan projects, similar to that of Microsoft Project. "It's never been done before," says Lewis Lo, Technical Architect for Project Manager Online Ltd. "To be able to create project plans using online software, you need to have a Gantt chart so you can see the project schedule. But no online Gantt chart contains all of the features you need to create a detailed plan for your project. So we created one. We started by surveying our customers to find out what they wanted. Over 500 project managers and teams gave us detailed feedback, helping guide us along the way. We then hired world class Adobe Flex developers to help us build the Gantt component. It was challenging work because they had to solve problems that have never been solved before. But they succeeded, and the Gantt chart we have today is as good as the Gantt chart you see in Microsoft Project."

The software, due to be released in the third quarter of this year, offers project managers and teams a unique approach. It will contain a project dashboard that lets project managers see at a glance, whether their projects are on time and under budget. They can then drill down to find out why projects are running late, and implement changes immediately. The reporting features to be released are second to none in the market. They allow a manager to generate status reports within seconds showing a project stakeholder the status of their project, in a graphical style.

ProjectManager.com concept is created

Project Manager Online Ltd announced today that it intends to create "the world's smartest project management software".

This software will provide Project Managers and teams with an online view of the status of their project. It will be available purely online and will use leading edge technologies such as the latest versions of .net and Adobe flash.

The most complex part of the process will be in designing, creating and deploying an online Gantt chart that will perform similarly to Microsoft Project. This Gantt chart will allow users to create detailed project plans within minutes, saving them time and hassle managing projects.

"Our CEO came up with the idea while at a conference for Project Management Executives," says Craig Nicholson, Technical Director for Project Manager Online Ltd. "He then surveyed our existing customer base and found that there was a big gap in the market. Although there were lots of online software providers in the project management software space, none had a graphical dashboard and Gantt chart facility that matched what people wanted."

The project was initiated in September 2007, with the recruitment of a full time team of software developers and testers. With help and guidance from 500 project managers and teams, the team quickly developed concepts for the solution that made it unique in the market. They then flew to the USA where they spent a month with project experts, confirming the design.

"I'm proud to have one of the most skilled software teams on the planet," says Jason Westland, CEO and Founder. We found all of the right people at exactly the right time. They're all experts in their field, and they all have a solid background in the management of projects. Together, we cover every aspect of the project management discipline".

The project team were recruited in late 2007 and now in 2008, are achieving their vision of creating "the world's smartest project management software".

"The online offering at Project Manager .com is unlike any other," says Westland. "It's intelligent project dashboard will tell you whether your projects are on track and if not, where to look for additional information to fix them. The task planner will help you plan your projects quickly and efficiently. And the reporting features will help you generate status reports for your projects in real time. Also, the entire solution will be simple and intuitive to use."

The company has a long term growth strategy for their online offering. By adding a suite of collaboration features and the creation of an online project community, the company intends to conquer the world of online project management.
